Tingewick Pre-SchoolCome and see what we're doing today!Tingewick Pre-School is a small, friendly pre-school playgroup. Originally started in 1972 by a group of parents wishing to meet other parents, the Pre-School has evolved to become a stimulating, safe and secure environment in which to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age. About Tingewick Pre-SchoolWe currently have a team of 6 highly trained staff delivering the Early Years Foundation Course to children, with the emphasis on having fun and learning through play always remaining paramount. We have a high ratio of adults to children in our group ensuring individual attention is given to the needs and development of each and every child. We cater for children and adults with special needs and two staff members are trained in makaton/sign-along signing. We are based in a purpose-built building situated within the grounds of Roundwood School, enabling us to make full use of the large outdoor playing field. The Pre-School is Ofsted registered and recently received an overall high rating of 'Good' in all areas. We are also members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. Our sessions run five mornings a week, Monday - Friday, from 9.00am-12.00pm and are open to children aged 2½ - 5. Nursery sessions run on a Tuesday and Thursday and are available to those children who will be starting school the following year. These sessions are designed to help children develop the confidence and independence needed for when they start school. Fees are currently £9.00 per session (Jan 2010). However, there is government funding for a maximum of five sessions for children in the term after their 3rd birthday. How We Are RunParental involvement is still vital as we are run by a voluntary committee, thus ensuring the major decision making is in the hands of the parents who use the Pre-School. Joining the Pre-School Committee is an ideal way to support your child's Pre-School education and have a say in any decision making. We always welcome new members and you will find that our informal monthly meetings are also a good place to socialise and make new friends. As well as making decisions on issues such as reviewing policy & practice and the employment & appraisal of staff members, the Committee plays a vital role in fundraising for the Pre-School. Whilst fees cover our major expenses such as rent, wages and essential supplies, we need to fundraise each year to ensure we are able to maintain the Pre-School's high standard of facilities and play equipment. Several fundraising events take place over the course of each school year and the organisation and running of these usually involves a great deal of fun as well as some hard work! Parent and Baby/Toddler GroupOur Parent and Baby/Toddler Group runs every Thursday from 1.15-2.45pm (£1.00 per family including drinks and biscuits). This informal get-together for parents (or carers) and their young ones provides an excellent way for newcomers to the area to get to know other parents and for little ones to make friends. It is also an ideal way for children to become familiar with the Pre-School environment prior to commencing.
